IELTS General Writing Task 1 with model answer

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. Write about the following topic

You will move to new city for work. You know some people who live there.

Write a letter to a friend. In your letter:
- Ask for them to help finding accommodation
- Tell them where you would like to live
- Tell them the type of place you are looking for

Write at least 150 words.

Model Answer:

Dear Mr. Havers,

I hoe you remember me from the teaching course in Batu last year. I hope you and your family are keeping well. I have recently accepted a position at the Bristol Prep School. As a result, I will be moving to Bristol. I was hoping you might be able to assist me with some advice on accommodation.

Ideally, I would like to have a short commute to work. I thought the city centre or Newbridge might be good in terms of distance. Also, as I still enjoy rowing, a place near estuary or a waterway would be great!

I would like a one or two bedroom apartment ideally. It should also include two parking spaces. My husband John will also be joining me, he is currently working from home base as an IT consultant and so an extra bedroom as a study would be ideal.

I hope that once we are settled we will be able to catch up for dinner. Many thanks for your help.
