IELTS General Writing Task 1 with model answer

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. Write about the following topic

Your car is hired from a company and while you are driving on holiday, you have a small accident. You will have to write a report to the company to explain it.

In your letter:
- when and where you hired it 
- describe how the accident happened
- what kind of action did you take after the accident

Write at least 150 words.

Model Answer:

Dear Sir,

Submit Task For Review ($15)

I recently rented a car from your rental agency in Rooseville, MN on 13th October. I am writing to let you know that I met with an accident while I was driving the car to Wisconsin the next day.

After renting the car, I started my journey. I reached the border of Wisconsin by 6 am the next day. Unfortunately, I did not notice that stop sign due to fog. Another car was being driven that road and I hit that car. Luckily, I did not have any major injuries. The car had one. One of the mirrors of the car broke during the accident. Apart from that,  the evening was good. 

Immediately after the accident, I reported the incident to the local police department. They arrived at the spot and inspected the car. They completed some formal work and took hold of the car. Since I was responsible for the accident, I drove the car to a local repair shop and replaced the mirror. However, in order to get the car back, you will need to collect it from the police station in Wisconsin since they want the owner's signature.

I totally apologize for all this. I hope that I have not created major issues.
