IELTS General Writing Task 1 with model answer

You should spend about 20 minutes on this task. Write about the following topic

You are staying in a country where the main language is English. You are looking for an opportunity to do volunteer work in a developing country.

Write a letter to the organization you want to work with and tell them:

• Why you are interested in working with them
• What skills and experience you have
• How long you are available to volunteer

Write at least 150 words.

Model Answer:

Dear Sir,
My name is Uma Mahor and I am a resident of Canada. I am writing this letter to get some information about the one month volunteering programme offered by you, which is, especially designed for people who can contribute by educating underprivileged children. I was very impressed by your idea of giving diverse experience to kids as you change the teacher every month. Moreover, the teacher come from various parts of the world to provide a global experience. Hence, I  am also looking forward to be a part of your organization. To elaborate further, I am software developer and have a good knowledge of computers. In additional, I have a good command over English language, which I can use to educate children about English. Apart from this, I have been associated with many philantropic activities during my college days so I can use my previous experience while dealing with kids.

So, I would like to join the  one month teaching programme and I am free for the two months.
