You should spend about 40 minutes on this task. Write about the following topic

Forests are the lungs of the earth. Destruction of the world's forests amounts to death of the world we currently know. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Write at least 250 words.

Model Answer:

Deforestation has severe consequences on the environment and wildlife. I strongly agree with the perspective that the destruction of the earth’s forests can lead to the annihilation of our planet.

The most compelling reason is the effects on our environment resulting from the cutting down of forests. Trees convert carbon dioxide gas to oxygen. Every living human and animal on earth needs oxygen to breathe in order to survive. In addition, high concentration of carbon dioxide leads to global warming and thus catalyzes the surge in arid lands. For instance, cultivation of vegetation will be cumbersome on such fields. Consequently, our way of life will be evermore complex to live.

Moreover, animal’s natural habitat is under constant threat from deforestation. The global phenomenon of urbanization from the beginning of industrialization has compounded this demand of the destruction of forests. As a result, the number of wildlife population is declining each year around the world. In addition, some species are on the verge of extinction due to the obliteration of their habitats.

Furthermore, forests are needed to ensure the survival of humankind. Many people rely on fruits, vegetables, and animals for food from the wild. Also, for instance, herbal medicine is made from various organic plants found in the forest. Therefore, deforestation can be a bitter pill to swallow.

To conclude, I firmly believe that the world’s forests are the respiratory organs of our planet and their destruction has severe effects on our environment, wildlife, and human survival.
